Designing a Stand out Direct Mail Flyer
Building a great flyer involves more than just putting words together and adding a few pictures. It takes a vision and a strategically unique plan to grab the attention of your audience. Designing a flyer is an art form, engaging the reader and supporting the company mission. Below are a few key points in building a great flyer and helping it get noticed.
Know your audience
The primary factor in creating a great flyer is knowing your audience. Brainstorming ideas of how to reach that audience takes a little ingenuity when it comes to your brand. The brand should pinpoint who it is speaking to. Who do you want to reach? There are many people in this world, but your target market is specific. Defining your target market and thinking of ways to reach them is key.
Image is Everything
People say not to judge a book by its cover. This may be true in many cases, but when it comes to making the best first impression the cover matters most. Designing a great flyer takes “eye-catching” images that would stop someone in their tracks. The more powerful the image, the more attention it grabs. Take billboards, for instance. There are plenty of ads out there trying to attract the attention of the drivers driving by. The image supporting the words helps create a lasting impact on the brand. The right image can draw people in, like moths to a flame.
KISS: Keep It Simple, Silly!
In designing a flyer, it helps not to overload it with insignificant words, disconnected graphics and crazy fonts. Get to the point with the meaning that you are trying to express. For instance, a flyer for a music event should list a few key points: Place, when, where, and the cost. The main attraction should be highlighted. Make sure the images fit the theme of the flyer. Less is more. If there are too many unnecessary or irrelevant items on the flyer then the reader may lose interest.
Even the most attractive flyer is unoptimized if it doesn’t get where it needs to go! Interested in adding direct mail marketing to your advertising mix? Please call our Toronto mailing house at 1-866-486-0423.
