Improve Cost Efficiency Using Publications Mail

Canada Post’s Publications Mail (Pubmail) is a cost-efficient delivery option for mailing newsletters, newspapers and magazines.

Publications Mail (Pubmail) largely pertains to non-promotional mailers that are informational in nature. This direct mail solution is a cheaper postage alternative for hefty or heavy mailers that would otherwise be priced at parcel rates. Mailable Publications Mail (Pubmail) items may have a maximum ratio of 70% advertisements to 30% editorial/news content, in no greater than 50% of the editions issued within a 12-month timeframe. Issues must also be mailed at least twice a year, within Canada only, and through an active Publications Mail (Pubmail) agreement number approved by Canada Post.

The name “Publications Mail” itself gestures towards what is acceptable. The following pieces (and similar items) are considered unacceptable, as they do not capture the content or the nature of Publications Mail (Pubmail) campaigns:

  • Directories
  • Invoices
  • Surveys
  • Reports
  • Books (with ISBN)
  • Catalogues
  • Proxies
  • By-laws
  • Stock listings

Publications Mail (Pubmail) rates depend on the unique specs and destination of the newsletter, newspaper or magazine. Please use the following size/weight guides (in conjunction with the Canada Post postage rates below) to help plan your Pubmail format and budget:

Publications Mail (Pubmail) Special Handling STANDARD

Minimum dimensions: 100 mm x 70 mm x 0.18 mm (thickness)

When I was searching for a company to handle my mailers, Troi was the first company that came up. I contacted them and I’m glad that I did! I have worked with the Troi Mailing & Timeline Printing team (Peter and Ken) for a couple of years now.

Christina Patriarca DerKar Group of Companies

You and your team made it very easy for us and the reason that we kept coming back is because of the service, speed of delivery and the fact that you answer the phone!! Believe me it makes the biggest difference to be able to call and get a quick response.
