Picture [ Blue Dot ] FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is used to make files and folders on remote computers directly available for transfer over the Internet. Using FTP works generally much faster than email. It also tends to be a little more involved and this is more so simply because there is no standard implementation of an FTP "client" functionality within the current range of the most popular browsers.

Note: The browsers known to work well for this step are Netscape v.2.x and above.
Recent versions of Internet Explorer (v.5.x and later) should be also working. Versions below 5.0 were known to not implement this feature corectly if at all!). If you don't already have an updated copy, you can get a free one from here :

Netscape Navigator         and/or      Internet Explorer

In order to upload your data file(s) you need to log on by typing in a username and password which we will provide you. If you haven't already done so, please contact FIRST our sales department for the appropriate login instructions.

Also, please note that we would like you to SEND us your file(s) in a compressed format ( ZIP is the preferred choice ).This increases overall the security of the transmission by minimizing the chances of data corruption during its transfer. It should also help to drastically reduce the time required to execute the upload. Since data files are highly compresibble in general, the size of the file you will actually transfer after compressing your list will be a lot less than the original.
To learn more about compression, how to use it and/or to get a free copy of the latest software appropriate for your system try this link :

   Get to know WinZip.

The following describes some steps required to do the upload after you will be following the link that opens the connection to our FTP server. This will present itself as a folder-type listing in your browser's window . You may want to print this page first so you will have it as a handy reference at that time.

You should now observe where is the data file you want to send us, or if using compression, where the destination ZIP file was created. Open Windows Exlorer and navigate to that respective location. Reduce that window's size so you can see both your file (highlighted) and this page in your browser window. Now you just need to click on the following link :
FTP Upload - Send us your files!
which will lead you to the appropriate directory (folder) on our site where you should be uploading to. You just need to drag with your mouse the data file from the Windows Explorer and drop it onto the browser .
Please note that this operation should work identically for the browsers mentioned before ( Netscape v. 2.xx or later and Internet Explorer v.5.x or later). Check your browser's version number under the Help/About... header if it does not. If your browser is older than the version numbers above you will have to upgrade (free!-by using the links provided on this paage) before you could complete this tasks.
Also note that the common alternative to the above procedure - using the keyboard shortcut "equivalents"(!?): Copy - CTRL+C - from Windows Exlorer and Paste - CTRL+V - into your browser DOES NOT work in this situation.

If you are using Netscape Navigator as your browser( for this session at least!) you can also do the following : check under the File menu in your browser. If the Upload File option is now active ( not greyed out) you are properly connected to our FTP site. Click there and select the appropriate file location/name you have noted down (as outlined above). The upload should start automatically. After the File Transfer dialog box ( saying : "Publishing..." in some versions !) disappears (meaning the upload has hopefully ended successfully) your part of the job is DONE and we'll start ours ASAP !
